On April 11, the guangdong-hong Kong-macao Bay Area Academicians' Union, the Hong Kong Science, Technology and Innovation Alliance and the beijing-hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre jointly held a seminar on the spirit of the national two 2024 meetings of the Hong Kong Innovation and technology sector. The director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's government in Hong Kong, Zheng Yanxiong, was invited to attend and share his views. Zheng Yanxiong said that this year's NPC and CPPCC is a very important meeting held on the 75th anniversary of the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China and a crucial year for achieving the targets of the 14th five-year plan, the spirit of“Two-maintenance”, pragmatism and enterprising, democracy and the rule of law, is of great significance, fruitful results and rich connotations. In particular, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the party with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, we have handed in a commendable report card in the initial year of implementing the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, it has greatly enhanced the confidence and confidence of the people throughout the country. Over the past year, with the care and support of the central government, the innovation and technology sector in Hong Kong has achieved encouraging results. Hong Kong's R & D capabilities have become more visible, its integration into the national innovation system has become easier, its support for industrial upgrading has become stronger, and its international advantages have become stronger. Hong Kong has attracted a large number of innovation and technology talents from all over the world. All these are important contributions to the construction of Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Center, and fully demonstrate the strength, responsibility and role of Hong Kong in the construction of an innovative country.

Zheng Yanxiong said that it is an important political task for the special administrative region to carry out the spirit of the two sessions of the NPC and the CPPCC. Hong Kong should play its part in developing new quality productivity, enhancing its status as an international financial centre, co-ordinating quality development and ensuring a high level of safety. Hong Kong should also play its part in innovation and technology (I & T) development. General Secretary Xi Jinping's emphasis on the development of new-quality productive forces is aimed at improving the quality and upgrading of China's economy and meets the urgent needs of Hong Kong. To develop new-quality productive forces and promote high-quality development, science and technology workers have a broader field and more important mission. The Innovation and technology sector in Hong Kong should make more contributions to further consolidate its advantages in basic research, further empower industrial innovation with technological innovation, further integrate into the overall development of the country and further enhance its level of internationalisation, to further pool the world's talent, so that the development of new quality productivity, promote high-quality development into a living practice in the process of governance and prosperity of Hong Kong.

At the seminar, Zheng Yanxiong chatted with key figures of the innovation and technology sector, fully acknowledging the positive contribution of the sector to the development of the country and the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. Nancy IP, Wei Bingjiang, Wu Hongwei and Huang Jinhui, members of the Hong Kong member of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) , who attended the NPC and CPPCC sessions, gave presentations on their experiences and learning experiences.
